Supported Independent Living

Supported Independent Living (SIL) is the provision of assistance or supervision with everyday chores in order to enable you live as independently as possible while developing your abilities.

SIL stands for salaried individual support. It can involve things like having someone assist with personal care or meal preparation. SIL can also assist you in developing these abilities so that you may become more self-sufficient.

SIL takes place in your own house. If you share a house with other individuals, you may contract SIL. If you live alone, you may be eligible for SIL, but there may be other Personal Care Supports that are more appropriate for you.

Rent and other day-to-day expenditures, such as food, are not covered by SIL financing.

The SIL Operational Guideline has further information about SIL financing. This Operational Guideline has just been revised to make it easier to comprehend.

Providers may get more information on SIL, including a Provider SIL Pack.

Who is eligible for SIL funding?

SIL is excellent for those who require a lot of help. This implies you’ll need a lot of assistance during the day. You will get money for SIL as part of your NDIS plan if it is the most suitable support for you.

The amount of SIL money you get will be determined by the degree and type of assistance you require to live as independently as possible.

You should address what home assistance you require at your planning discussion, as well as whether SIL is appropriate for you. Your planner will then determine if it is a fair and required assistance for your needs.
